Compared to drug trials, pediatric medical device trials have unique concerns and requirements. One key element that needs further attention from the medical community is the infrastructure requirements needed to perform high level clinical trials for medical devices. The attached Appendix from a 2006 publication entitled “Safe Medical Devices for Children” from the National Academies Press begins to highlight these issues.
